The original concept by Sedley place Architects in South London for a new restaurant venture was to have a 6 metre long x 1200 at its widest point underlit onyx counter top backlit, with LED’s incorporating a down stand on all edges of what in plan appeared as a large question mark (?).

Real 2cm onyx proved to be a problem because of its weight and the complex design and the price also proved to be prohibitive too.

Then our Amberlite material came to the rescue offering complete design flexibility and competitive pricing structure and the designers even came up with the name ‘Cracked Caramel’ which has proven to be one of our best sellers since.
